But history should not be an excuse and citizens should find ways in order to end this act of fraud. There are numerous ways of trying to prevent or totally eliminate this from happening. One can be the transparency of the Pork Barrel or PDAF. It should be explained to the people or credible representatives where the money goes and what projects do officials pursue. Another can be the total eradication of the Priority development assistance fund in order to eliminate this idea of corruption completely. Solutions should be made in order for corruption to stop in the Philippines. It has been going on in this country for more than a century and it is unacceptable. The government should find ways to eradicate this for the development of the Philippines. This is the first major issue that the Philippine government should resolve but somehow it is recently improving.
The quality of Philippine education has declined few years ago due to poor results from standard entrance tests conducted among elementary and secondary students, as well as the tertiary levels. The results were way below the target mean score. High dropout rates, high number of repeaters, low passing grades, lack of particular language skills, failure to adequately respond and address the needs of people with special needs, overcrowded classrooms, and poor teacher performances, have greatly affected the quality of education in the Philippines. Budget The government was mandated by the Philippine Constitution to allocate the highest proportion of its budget to education. However, among the ASEAN countries, the Philippines still has one of the lowest budget allocations to education.
This is due to some mainstream political issues and humungous problems that the government is facing specially corruption Mismatch There is a large proportion of mismatch between training and actual jobs. This issue arises at the tertiary level and causes a large group of unemployed and underemployed. This is very true nowadays because of the arising BPO industries particularly the call center companies. Hundreds of thousands of young professionals, graduates or undergraduates from college level settled at this type of company because of the attractive compensation that they are offering.
Call center companies do not require a specific degree of education, what matters to them is the proficiency in the English language. Philippine education is strongly viewed as a pillar of national development and a primary avenue for social and economic mobility. It has undergone several stages of development from the pre-Spanish time to the present. It is handled by three government organizations, namely, the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports DECS , the Commission on Higher Education CHED , and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority TESDA.
The government allocates a high budget every year for Philippine education and guarantees that every Filipino has the right to quality education. However, there are some important issues that needs to be looked closely and resolved by the government. Among the issues are: There is a big disparity in educational achievements across social groups. Students from wealthy families have excellent educational background gained from exclusive private schools at the start of their education until they finish college. Unlike the students from the less fortunate families, wherein most of them could not even finish elementary nor secondary level because of poverty.
They could barely afford to buy school shoes and pencils, not even the tiny amount of tuition fees from the public schools. Affordability There are some measures that the Philippine government has looked into for the reformation of quality education. Technology use is starting to gain momentum in the overall education of this country. This helped improve the quality of education in the Philippines and to be globally competitive in this millennium. Population explosion- is considered as one of the undisputable alarming obstacles that stand on the path of the less developed countries. These countries produce great numbers in terms of human resources because the birth rate is much higher than in the rich countries, but the rate of employment and production in the poor countries is very low.
Definitely this is a very serious problem that the government should never take for granted. In fact, the Philippine population is one of the fastest growing countries in the world. It is estimated that 3, Filipino babies are born every day, , every month, or one million a year to round up the figures. There are more babies being born today than there were in the s. There will be more babies born 20 years from now than the number of babies that are born this day. In this lies the problem: at first, the babies need milk, diapers and vitamins. But the trouble is, babies grow up.
And when they do, they need education, which requires more school structures; they need food, clothing, houses, jobs, etc. These are basic needs that must be filled. The hunger situation is alarming. The National Statistical Coordination Board stated that more than 11 million Filipinos were considered food-poor or living below subsistence level in The Food and Agricultural Organization in reported that there were more than 17 million undernourished Filipinos. Food insecurity is blamed for the fact that many preschool children are underweight and malnourished. A government-sponsored survey in revealed that 8 out of 10 households experienced financial difficulty in purchasing food. The National Statistics Office also noted that Filipino families are spending less on food items.
In about 48 percent of household expenditures were allotted for food. A decade later, the share of food expenditures went down to 42 percent. Rice used to be the staple food of Filipinos. Now it is quickly being replaced by instant noodles which are cheaper but less nutritious. Politicians are even giving out instant noodles in urban poor communities and evacuation centers in calamity-stricken provinces. Food supplies are stable but they are available mostly in areas where people have enough income for food expenditures. The unequal distribution of income in the country explains the seemingly low demand for food in low-income places. An analyst also noted that the prices of some basic commodities are getting higher.
The higher cost of these basic commodities will force more Filipinos to spend less on food. The poor remain poor because they cannot borrow against future earnings to invest in education, skills, new crops, and entrepreneurial activities; they are cut off from economic activity because many collective goods such as property rights, public safety, and infrastructure are under-provided, and they lack information about market opportunities. Investment Capacity Constraints Investment is critical to economic growth and for the poor to escape from poverty. Very low income levels are a fundamental reason why the poor cannot save enough money to finance productive investments. According to the National Statistics Office, 3. Earning money for their food and shelter became their sole purpose, no longer the education that should have served to bring them a better future.
Children from the ages 5 to about 17 are usually the ones found laboring under the hot sun or behind machines for small companies or syndicates. This can happen by preventing lower social classes from obtaining the resources needed to support themselves. Gender discrimination is very obvious because more women and their children live in poverty. Finally Natural disasters can do a lot of damage to an already struggling country. Overpopulation means there will not be enough jobs available for the majority of the population, which contributes extensively to the cycle of poverty. This causes the ones that have it to see them as different and children are mean and pick and point it out to everyone.
Also many people here recently have made protest and riots over lives that matter. One thing that I have always valued is everyone no matter who they are matter, everyone is equal some are just a little more…. Poverty Poverty is defined as the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or support. There is poverty everywhere and not everyone knows what it is like to live in it. Not everybody gets access to health care, a home, a bed, food everyday, or even clothes. Poverty affects everyone and anyone. This is a big struggle all over the world and the rates are constantly increasing. The Chinese government has decided that couples are allowed two children per household. This is a drastic change from the old one-child policy, implemented after the rule of Mao Zedong.
Since the population is 1. Steven Jiang, a sociologist, said that the policy will affect million couples and it is likely that twenty-three million more births will occur under the new policy. Although China has allowed people to have more choices in their lives, the one-child policy will not help many people. The goal was to keep the population under 1. Since doctors all over China, doctors have performed sterilizations and abortions to help maintain the policy. Due to China being a patriarchal society, abortion, parental sex selection, and other causes are the reason behind 60 million lost girls because the desire to conceive sons are a significant part of the Chinese tradition.
People who want to work and are able to work, are unable to find jobs and are therefore not earning an income and are not able to satisfy their basic needs. Some people are born into poor households and grow up in poverty and are unable to afford to get receive proper, adequate education, putting them at a disadvantage when they try to get a job one day. One There are multiple numbers of pressing social taking place in the world today, however, poverty is at the most important issue that needs to be addressed. Poverty is affecting millions of people every day across the globe, which is primarily due to wars, lack of a proper education, and the social inequality amongst citizens.
When war is in progress, this creates an unbalance in the regions that it is in, so businesses and homes are constantly destroyed, leaving citizens without a house or a job. These factors therefore make it impossible for a person to afford an ordinary living pattern. Poverty is the major cause of lack of development in any country. It is therefore the obligation of every government to try and improve the living standards and conditions of its people by providing employment opportunities and other means by which people can earn money and provide for their families. Hence, poverty is a situation in life that has to be fought by all means necessary not only by the government but by individuals as well.
Money is something we all want a large quantity of, but must of us will never obtain that. Poverty is something that many people in our country experience at some point. Poverty is not something people choose, many factors are in play on why people are poor. With this comes very poor education system, poor living environment, not many job opportunities and a feeling of no way out the situation. Some people could end up working multiply jobs just to make ends meet. Also since the jobs in the environment do not pay as much, it could lead to people making money in different ways which may not be legal. As humans though, we will do anything and everything to survive. People want the best for themselves but that is not always what happens. Many people end living in poor areas, whether they were born into or just fell onto hard times like losing a job, losing a parent, parents get divorced many reasons why.
The effects that that growing up in a poor environment can stunt the grow for younger people. One effect is a poor education system, which sets the youth behind in these situations. They will not be lucky enough to go to a school with a great education system that leads them into success. School also is hard to focus on when people are just trying to get a meal. Some children only get to eat while they are at school because food is scares at home. Not having good education can lead to people not going get higher education. Not the fact that they cannot afford it, I mean most people take out student loans. It is the fact that most of peoples family and friends did not go so then the person might not go.
What you see around you plays a giant part in a humans growth. Then people end up settling for a dead end job that may pay the bills at the moment. The cycle is hard to break but it can be done, and that is what many parents try to do for their children in these communities. The world is there oyster, they have money and can turn to their community for help. In an impoverish community there is not many resources to turn to in the community. With little governmental funding there are not many resources for people to seek out to get help or keep themselves busy. A sense of community for people is huge, it gives them a sense of belonging it makes them feel a part of something bigger then themselves. What do you do though when there is none of that where you live?
People then tend to turn to the bad parts of the community, that might be mean getting involved with the wrong crowd, falling victim to drugs or putting themselves not in the best situation. These are the effects that can keep people down, keep them struggling. Substance abuse is something plays a big role in poor communities. When you feel there is no hope left in life where are you going to turn? People in poor communities can turn to drugs as an outlet to escape the reality they are in feeling that they cannot get out of.
They lose faith in the system because the system does not even seem like it wants them. Then once they get addicted to a drug it is very difficult for them to find resources to get the help. People have to search for government funded problems that can take months for them to get into. Which leads them to lose more hope in the system. They end up in a never ending cycle of drugs use with little place to go or to get recovery at and this could lead to their death. The goal in life for most people is to get a good job make a decent amount of money and buy a house one day.
In poor communities that is a lot easier said than done, when the job barley helps people pay for the apartment they living in how can they afford a house? Also when people cannot afford to pay bills that will affect their credit score. Which buying a house with a bad credit score is nearly impossible which leads them back to where they started. A recurring cycle of a feeling that they have no way out of this. Health care is something that most poor people have a tough time getting and if they get it might not be that great. Not having a lot of money can lead to pushing health problems off and waiting to see if goes away. When someone cannot even put food on the table why would they go spend thousands of dollars on treatment?
It is very expensive to go see a doctor in this country without insurance most people will not even see you until an insurance card is given. That is why most people in impoverish communities do not go to the doctor. Which can lead to them developing worse health problems or even death. Furthermore, the causes on why people are in poverty are not as strong as the effects. Something as losing your job, growing up in a poor community, having a parent pass away and just getting dealt a bad card are not as bad as the effects. The effects are drastic, the effects put people hole so deep they feel they cannot get out of. The education system fails their children and does not help them as much to get out of poverty. The government fails them, keeping them in a position of poverty with little resources to escape.
They are ways to get out though, might be extremely difficult but a healthy environment can help, good parents, a sense of community and a sense of belonging. Understand that being poor is not a bad thing, it does not feel good to be poor but people are not worse for it. They are still beautiful humans just got a dealt a worse card or are going through a tough time. Instead of our society looking down on these people we should be empowering them to be the people we know they are and help them achieve their true potential. Essay Samples Writing Help.
